UFC Champion Islam Makhachev Joins Plekhanov University as Master's Student

Standing at the pinnacle of the UFC world, he decides to concur the academic arena.

Plekhanov University proudly welcomes UFC Champion Islam Makhachev to its community as a master’s student, marking the beginning of a new chapter in his journey defined by ambition, discipline, and an unwavering pursuit of excellence.

For more than a decade, Makhachev has built one of the most remarkable records in mixed martial arts. A professional since 2010, our student has amassed an incredible 29 victories in 30 fights and risen to become a two-division UFC champion. He holds numerous UFC records, including the longest winning streak in UFC history of 17 fights, and the most title-fight victories, five, in the lightweight division. He is the #1 welterweight fighter, as well as the #1 fighter in the UFC men's pound-for-pound rankings.

Now, Makhachev is bringing that same dedication to his education. Makhachev reminds us that a person's strength is measured not by what they've already achieved, but by whether they're ready to become a student again. This powerful step distinguishes those who remain at the top from those who simply ascended to it once.

For Plekhanov University, this is not just a prominent name on the student list, but an example of the values we share: discipline, responsibility, and the desire to grow. We wish Islam Makhachev success both in his studies and in his career ahead.
