First-Year Students, Welcome to the Plekhanov Family!

The 2026–2027 academic year is officially underway! Today, we welcomed a new cohort of Plekhanovites to campus as they took their first steps into university life and began getting to know the people, places, and opportunities that will shape the years ahead.
This occasion was honored by the presence and participation of our distinguished guests His Excellency Dr. Abdullah Belhaif Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the Sharjah Consultative Council; Mr. Vladimir Krasnoperov, Science and Technology Attaché at the Embassy of the Russian Federation in the United Arab Emirates; Alexander Bashkin, Regional Representative for Compatriots Living Abroad.
With the welcome complete, it was time for our students to start discovering what it really means to be a Plekhanovite. The “How to Be a Plekhanovite” session gave them a glimpse into the experience ahead, introducing them to our dual-diploma model, student clubs, the culture at Plekhanov University, our values, and opportunities that make up life at the University. The session was presented by our staff and senior Plekhanovites, who shared their experiences and helped our newest students start finding their place.
And, of course, no first day is complete without meeting the people you will share it with. Students had the chance to mingle with their new classmates, exchange introductions, and get to know the community they will grow within.
The day wrapped up with a guided campus tour, giving students a first look at their classrooms and the university’s facilities. This helped students feel more at home and to get familiar with campus before the rush of classes begins.
The first day of Orientation Week also coincided with Knowledge Day. By continuing this tradition here in Dubai, Plekhanov University welcomed its newest students into a community built around learning, curiosity, and ambition.
Tomorrow, our Plekhanovites will take their first steps into Plekhanov CORE and begin exploring the experiences, skills, and opportunities that lie ahead.

“Knowledge is a unique resource: the more we share it, the more it grows. Immersing yourself in the world of knowledge is not simply about learning, it is a source of joy for both the mind and the soul,” shared Dr. Svetlana Malkarova.
