Youth Skills Day: Learn the Skills of Tomorrow Today

15 July 2026

86% of students today say they don't feel ready to step into an AI-enabled workplace. On July 15th, we celebrate the UN’s World Youth Skills Day; a day devoted to recognizing the potential of young people and the skills that will carry them into meaningful, future-ready careers. As industries evolve, so does the definition of what makes a graduate truly employable.

According to a World Economic Forum report, the coming years will be shaped by automation, shifting economies, and a global transition toward greener industries. This shift places analytical thinking, adaptability, resilience, and leadership among the most valuable soft skills, alongside AI fluency, data literacy, and cybersecurity awareness as core technical ones.

And that’s not the only report that proves that, the throughline across every recent study and expert view is the same; technical knowledge alone no longer guarantees a career, the ability to apply it does. For the youth, this means treating curiosity and adaptability as skills to actively build, not traits to cast aside. And, for educational institutions, this development makes our mission more important than ever: to close the distance between what students learn and what the world of work actually asks of them.

Plekhanov University in Dubai: Study with Purpose

In this shifting landscape, practice-based learning is essential. At Plekhanov University in Dubai, our educational mission is centered around nurturing our students into skilled, competent, and career-ready graduates. That preparation entails industry-aligned coursework, applied learning, and direct engagement with the business community. By helping students build relevant skills and practical experience, we prepare them for a future workforce filled with both opportunities and change.
