Innovation Week Day 4: Students Put Knowledge to the Test
21 May 2026
As Innovation Week moves into its final stretch, Day four zeroed in on the key driver of innovation today: modern technology. Today, a workshop and competition were held, challenging students to engage with AI and emerging technologies as tools with real business implications.
The first session, "Technology Transformation in Big Four Firms," was hosted by Dr. Yojna Bansal, Associate Professor at Plekhanov University in Dubai. The session guided participants through a critical exploration of how technology is fundamentally reshaping the operations, services, and strategies of the world's top consulting firms — Deloitte, PWC, EY, and KPMG. Students explored how these companies are investing into modern technologies, what they are focusing on and why, giving them an in-depth understanding of exactly which technologies are driving business transformation today.
The second session was an Applied AI Poster competition led by Dr. Waleed Alomoush, Associate Professor in Information Technology at Plekhanov University in Dubai. Students presented AI-generated posters on topics of their choosing, which included AI-driven digital transformation, big data, and finance. With the help of AI, they created posters breaking complex concepts down into digestible visuals, reflecting an ability to interact with AI informedly, ethically, and with an understanding of its benefits and limitations.
With the grand finale just one day away, the week is building toward a fittingly ambitious close.
