Innovation Week Day 3: Plekhanov University in Dubai Holds Advisory Board Meeting

Innovation Week 2025 continues at Plekhanov University in Dubai; alongside the third day of the international Computer Algebra in Scientific Computing conference, the university’s Advisory Board convened to review the university’s performance and discuss strategic goals and plans for its educational programs, research, and institutional development. The meeting was joined by the Consul General Maxim Vladimirov and Science and Technology Attaché Vladimir Krasnoperov of the Russian Federation in Dubai and the Northern Emirates, and former member of the UAE Federal National Council, H.E. Ayesha Mohammed Saeed Rashed Almulla.
Dr. Svetlana Malkarova, Chairperson of Plekhanov University in Dubai, opened the meeting, welcoming the Advisory Board, industry experts, and guests. In attendance from the university's side were also Dr. Hasan Abu Ezza, Deputy Chairperson for Administrative and Scientific Affairs, and Dr. Sanjay, professor and expert in human-centered AI applications. The meeting was joined by individuals who have been actively involved with the university since its opening, including Ahmed Al Zarouni, CIOMajlis Board Member and Amna Al Dhaheri, Strategic Advisor at Integrated Cyber.
The Advisory Board meeting focused on reviewing the university’s progress in its inaugural year, during which it launched two bachelor’s and two master’s programs. This was followed by the university receiving the license for two additional master’s programs: “Public Health Management” and “AI in Education,” which directly contributes to the UAE’s target of training 1 million AI specialists by 2027. The Board also reviewed enrollment results, research output, and the university’s growing network of industry collaborations. Plekhanov University in Dubai formed eleven partnerships in its first year that provide students with diverse internship opportunities and support academic development, and it continues to develop its industry ties. These include a strategic collaboration with Huawei that led to the establishment of the Huawei Innovation Lab. In research, the university launched two new labs focused on innovation: the AI Research Lab and the Neuroeconomics Research Lab.
The Board also discussed the university’s core strategic pillars for 2025-2026. Over the coming year, the university will continue strengthening its position in the education sector through academic and research excellence, advancing industry-integrated education models, and enhancing research and innovation development.
