AI, Innovation, and Education: Plekhanov University in Dubai Proudly Participates in UNESCO Digital Learning Week

The delegation of Plekhanov Russian University of Economics, led by Rector Ivan Lobanov, Chairman of the Russian Coordinating Committee of UNESCO Chairs, and Vice-Rector, Director of Plekhanov University in Dubai, Svetlana Malkarova, took part in the official opening ceremony of the UNESCO Digital Learning Week held at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris.

Plekhanov Russian University of Economics, which hosts two UNESCO Chairs, is an active contributor to the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals and is participating in the UNESCO Digital Learning Week, taking place from 2–5 September 2025 in Paris.
Digital Learning Week is one of UNESCO’s key annual events in the field of education, aimed at promoting the global agenda of digital transformation, the use of innovative technologies, and the development of artificial intelligence in education systems. The forum brings together ministers, university rectors, researchers, and representatives of international organizations to discuss digitalization strategies and ensure equitable access to modern educational resources.

Particular recognition was given by UNESCO Program Manager Maya Prince to the presentations delivered by members of the Plekhanov University delegation, including:

• Rector of PRUE Ivan Lobanov: “Smart Universities: Integrating Artificial Intelligence at Plekhanov Russian University of Economics”
• Vice-Rector, Director of the PRUE Branch in Dubai Svetlana Malkarova: “Plekhanov University in Dubai: Artificial Intelligence Education in the UAE”
• Head of the International Relations Department at the Dubai branch Anna Tarilova-Leclout: “Curricula of the Future: Using AI to Transform Language Education”

These presentations were highlighted as a significant contribution to advancing the global dialogue on integrating artificial intelligence into education and building a sustainable educational ecosystem of the future.

The participation of Plekhanov University in Dubai in such a major international event emphasizes the university’s commitment to developing education through innovation and modern technologies.
