Plekhanov University will present its strategy for integrating artificial intelligence at UNESCO Mobile Learning Week in Paris.

In September 2025, UNESCO Headquarters in Paris will host a major international event in the field of digital education - Mobile Learning Week. This year, the central theme of the gathering will be the integration of artificial intelligence in education, including the challenges, ethical frameworks, and prospects for sustainable development.
Following a competitive selection process by the UNESCO Secretariat, Plekhanov University has been invited to present the Russian experience in the field of artificial intelligence as one of the few universities demonstrating a systemic and strategic approach to AI integration in the educational environment. Today, Plekhanov Russian University of Economics stands as a next-generation technological university, combining strong economic education with cutting-edge digital solutions.
The keynote speaker will be Ivan Lobanov, Rector of Plekhanov University and Chair of the Coordination Committee of UNESCO Chairs in the Russian Federation. Professor Lobanov will deliver a presentation entitled “Building Smarter Universities: AI Integration at Plekhanov Russian University of Economics”, highlighting strategic approaches to the digital transformation of higher education — from the use of intelligent systems in management and teaching to the implementation of AI-powered platforms for analyzing students’ development trajectories.
The experience of UNESCO Chairs hosted by Plekhanov University will also be presented, focusing on the theme of transforming education through partnerships. This topic will be addressed by Dr. Svetlana Malkarova, Head of the UNESCO Chair “Societal, Legal and Ethical Frameworking of Knowledge Societies,” Vice-Rector and Director of Plekhanov University’s Dubai Branch (UAE). Her presentation, “Transforming Education through Alliances: AI-Driven Solutions in Higher Education,” will explore the university’s international experience in implementing AI-based projects within transnational academic cooperation, including collaboration with BRICS+ universities and institutions from the Gulf countries.
Practical solutions for adapting academic programs to the AI reality will be shared by Anna Tarilova, International Relations Manager at the Dubai Branch of Plekhanov University. Her talk, “Curriculum for Tomorrow: Leveraging AI to Transform Educational Content and Learning Models,” will focus on the development of adaptive courses, personalized learning pathways, and new approaches to digital pedagogy.
