KAZAN — The Russian Minister of Science and Higher Education, Valery Falkov, and His Excellency Dr. Ahmed Belhoul Al Falasi, the UAE Minister of Education, met at the "Shaping the Future" Forum and the 11th BRICS Education Ministers Meeting in Kazan to deliberate on key initiatives fostering collaboration in higher education and science between Russia and the UAE.

During their meeting, the distinguished parties engaged in high-level discussions about the upcoming grand opening of a branch of the prestigious Plekhanov Russian University of Economics in Dubai, which has received the institutional license of MOE to operate in higher education. Ahmad Al Falasi expressed his keen interest in attending the grand opening in September, underscoring the significant stride in educational cooperation between the two nations.

Furthering the dialogue, the ministers emphasized the need for the continued development of relations in higher education and science. Notably, in 2023, Russia and the UAE inked 33 agreements in science and education. The ministers also revealed plans for an additional 22 agreements to be signed, underscoring the commitment to advancing the partnership in education and research.

Minister Valery Falkov remarked, "We still have much to agree upon, but as the saying goes, patience moves mountains. I want to express my gratitude personally, as the relationship between our ministries is developing very productively." His statement underscored the fruitful nature of the collaborative efforts between the ministries of both countries.

In response, Dr. Ahmed Belhoul Al Falasi lauded Russian education, expressing his satisfaction with the burgeoning presence of Russian educational institutions in the Emirates. "I am very pleased that Russian universities are opening branches in the Emirates. If I were choosing where to study now, it would be Russia. Your country is suitable for my education in every respect – the Russian people are open, honest, and diligent," he remarked, highlighting the favorable prospects for educational pursuits in Russia.
